QIC – Canberra Centre

Role: Project Manager & Client Representative

Construction Value: $180M

Completion: End 2006

Compass Project Management acted as the client representative & project manager. Works included a Community Centre, Youth Centre, 2 levels basement carparking, 5 level multideck parking creating an additional 2200 spaces. The works increased GLA by an additional 30,000m2, bringing the total centre to 90,000m2. The project also featured the CBD’s first nine-screen Dendy cinema complex which complements the alfresco dining and food court. Each precinct is linked via bridges which are designed for retail, vehicle and pedestrian access.

Built by Canberra based Construction Control, the project was delivered with 4 distinct separable portions over three years. One unique challenge of the project was the management of three contractors on one portion of the site as once the retail structure was complete, Bovis Lend Lease then continued the commercial component of the site. Statham delivered the Dendy Cinemas.

The project was opened three months earlier than originally planned in feasibility.
